About us

History

Abora was founded in the year 1994, originally as a trading company. By the end of 1997 Juris Kravalis, a civil engineer, became the director of the company and chose construction to be the industry of which Abora would focus on.

The first construction project of the company was to repair a small office block, the bill of which came to a total of 10 000 LVL (Latvian Lats). The first notable order was a workshop used for glass manufacturing in Jaunolaine by the company RIOM Ltd. Only after several months of work were the offices completed and were then used to sell computers and phones. By developing the way we worked gained us respect from our clients, which as a result brought an increase in the amount of work we were receiving due to the client’s high satisfaction, a good reputation was built. A successful corporation with Lattelekom Ltd. was started by the end of 1998 to do renovations of facades and rooms for several buildings within the city of Riga. Between the years of 1998 and 1999 The Sports Arena of Riga was built at Zvardes Street, 1, Riga (client, Rigas houses Ltd). In the year of 1999, our list of clients had increased due to a contract of repairing City schools in Riga, along with kindegartens. Also a relationship was built with LUKOIL BALTIJA R Ltd, to complete gas construction projects in different cities of Latvia.

In the year 2000 Abora Ltd had a financial turnover over which exceeded 1 million LVL, thus proving that the company has well established itself within the Latvian construction industry. The compant begins to implement repair works in the stationary health institutions such as P. Stradins Clinical University Hospital, Linezers Hospital, and later Riga second hospital amongst others. In the end of the year we won an open tender to secure a contract with the Ministry Of Defence for the repairs of Latvia’s National Defence Academy, at Ezermalas Street 6/8, Riga. This order began a partnership with the defence institutions of Latvia’s national state for the implementation of armed force objects, which value is up to millions of LVL. After Latvia joined NATO an EU has approved that all requirements were fulfilled and allowed these activities to continue and enabled us to gain the industrial safe certificate, which enables us to take part in tenders for NATO in Latvia and across the EU.
